Griffin Technology

At the beginning of this year I did a shoot for Griffin Technology with my buddy Brad Spitzer. The photos were to be used in an ad proposal to the outdoor company REI. Here are a some images from the shoot.

After The shoot was over, the climbers we were shooting asked if I wanted to climb the rout. At the time, I had never climbed before. However, I haven’t stopped climbing since. I love it… and I love my job.

Sauer Wedding

Out door weddings are so fun. Well… at least when everything goes well. Luckily, the weather was beautiful and everything went according to plan. One thing I found most fun about shooting this wedding was all of the kids. Children are so much fun to photograph because most of the time they are oblivious to the fact someone is taking their picture. It’s so interesting to get down on their level and even if just for a moment, become apart of their world again. Here are some of the shots from the day. While I did take hundreds of candid shots of the adults, I figured this post would be more interesting if the majority were the kids shots.

Sorted Noise

If there is one thing I’ve learned about the music industry after living in Nashville for twenty one years, its that it hasn’t changed much. If you are a starving artist or a band, chances are you look to record labels to solidify your “road to the top”. While I’m not trying to downplay the potential effect a record label can have on one’s career, I am attempting to point out the up-rise of the independent artist movement. More and more artists are taking it upon themselves to further their music careers. This involves an enormous amount of connection and plugging what a band or artist is doing into a community of creative people who have the tools and means necessary to help bands and artists see their dreams come true. At the forefront of this community are my friends at Sorted Noise. These guys are all about helping you or your band get plugged into the community and use the vital tools necessary to establish your career.

I recently did a shoot for these guys and couldn’t be happier to be a part of what they’re doing.

Chris Adams

I recently had to opportunity to shoot in David Bean’s  Studio Daylight. If you haven’t seen any of David’s work, I suggest you click the link and check out his images. I’m quickly learning that shooting in a studio is a whole other beast when it come to lighting. While it can be quite challenging, I find it extremely fun.

Chris Adams is a local filmmaker here in town. Not only can this guy turn out some great films, but he also looks great in front of a camera.

I would also like to say that I’m currently listening to the new mute math record and its awesome. That is all. Enjoy.

Julian Smith

So earlier last week my friend Julian (http://www.juliansmith.tv) and I were hanging out. We were at my house trying to figure out something to do. Well, usually when put in the predicament we end up being creative in some way. Either Julian decides to shoot something or I do. Long story short, we were able to see just how photogenic my dinning room is.

Have You Heard

This was probably the most fun I’ve had on a shoot thus far. I’ve had the idea of shooting a band in a back yard football scene for quite sometime. I was just waiting on the right band and I felt that Have You Heard had the right look for the shoot. It was such a pleasure working with these boys. They are all a lot of fun. Check out the behind the scenes video below.

The Devil Wears Prada

It is always good to see old friends. The other night my buds in The Devil Wears Prada came into town. It is almost surreal to think about how four years ago my friend Christie and I were handing out their demo’s around town to try and get them shows here. Now, they sell out Rocketown and have drum techs and tour buses. I couldn’t be happier for these boys and its always nice to see your friends dreams come true. Here are some shots I was able to capture from the night. The low light forced me to shoot at ISO 1600 making the photos quite grainy but I still am happy with the shots overall. Bands include Sky Eats Airplane, A Day To Remember, and The Devil Wears Prada.

Get Infamous

This was a hard shoot. Plain and simple as that. I showed up thinking it was going to be a much smaller than it was. The idea was to feature the shirts in a party setting. Who would have know it would actually end up being a party. Let me tell you, getting a ton of drunk extras to cooporate is not an easy task. Despite everything, I think the shots turned out nice and we accomplished what needed to be accomplished.

Sometimes I forget how wonderful it is to be able to photograph family. After all, these are the photos that will matter the most thirty years from now. This is my niece, Taylor. She spent the week with us a few months back. I don’t think I have know a cuter little girl than this one.
